These Valentines cake pops recipes are for sweet treats with a beautiful smooth finish. They are great for any time of year but especially for Valentine's Day.

I have been told that I am bubbly and vivacious my whole life. It used to make me feel self-conscious and I would even hide my happiness and excitement for life. But not anymore.
Living authentically and being yourself is important to me because I didn't for so long. Now I am completely myself and incredibly happy. I try to incorporate that happiness into my recipes and family traditions.
For example, I love throwing Halloween parties like my mummies night out Halloween party and witches night out Halloween party. We dress up, drink yummy drinks, and have a blast!
We also have a Galentines theme party and do fun Valentines breakfast ideas kids will love. Serving this homemade Valentines charcuterie board for either, is great.
I love throwing a good party and especially love coming up with treats for them, like our 4th of July foods or these Valentines day chocolate dipped fruit gifts.
These Valentine's Day cake pops are so much fun to make. This recipe is the perfect one to make with your kids because it's incredibly easy and doesn't involve the oven.
It goes great with our Valentines mocktails and is the perfect addition to our DIY Valentines treats for school and Valentines cookie gifts. They are also great Valentines gifts for a college girlfriend.
Why you should make this recipe
- They are perfect for birthday parties because they are super easy to serve. You don't have to worry about cutting cake for each kid.
Ingredients needed
- Cake - Make (or buy) your favorite cake flavor and allow it to cool. You could also make it the day before to avoid waiting for the cake to cool.
- Frosting - Frosting helps keep the cake crumbs together to make the perfect ball form.
- Almond bark - Melted almond bark makes the best candy coating.
- Sprinkles - Valentines sprinkles in red, white and pink or hearts work best.
How to make this Valentines cake pop recipe
Crumble the cake
Make or buy your favorite flavor of cake. You will want the cake to cool to room temperature before using.
Once the cake has cooled, crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl. Do this slowly or you will make a big mess.
Mix with frosting
Add the frosting to the crumbled-up cake a bit at a time. Slowly mix the frosting and cake crumbs together.
Mix until they create a smooth texture, and everything is incorporated. It takes a couple of minutes, so be patient with it.
Prepare the cake balls
Now it is time to make the cake balls. Take a mini cookie scoop and scoop out some of the cake mixture.
Roll the balls between the palm of your hand to make evenly rounded balls. Wear gloves or wash your hands before touching the mixture.
Melt candy coating
Melt the almond bark in a microwave safe bowl. Dip a lollipop stick into the candy coating and add the cake pop stick into the cake pop until halfway inserted.
Then place on a sheet pan with the stick side up. Repeat until all cake pops have a sucker stick in them.
Create the cake pop
Swirl one cake pop at a time in the remaining melted almond bark. Make sure you coat the cake ball entirely.
While the almond bark is still warm, top the cake pop with Valentines sprinkles. The sprinkles will not stick if the coating is cool.
Enjoy
Grab a box or styrofoam block and poke holes in it with enough space so the cake pops do not touch each other. Place each stick into a hole and let the cake pops to cool.
Once they have cooled, they are ready to serve. Enjoy!
Tips for success
- Bake the cake a day before - Making the cake ahead of time makes this baking process a lot easier in my mind. You don't have to feel rushed about baking the cake and hoping it cools in time.
- Melt the candy in intervals - To keep the almond bark from melting, microwave it in 30-second intervals and mix in between.
- Try different flavors - I love to use different cake mixes to have different flavored cake pops. Try out red velvet cake mix with chocolate frosting for a delicious Valentine's day theme.
Storage and Freezing
Storing - When ready to store your Valentine's cake pops, place them in an airtight container. Putting wax paper between each layer of cake pops helps keep them from sticking together.
Freezing - If you want to freeze these easy cake pops, place them in an airtight container or a freezer bag. The best way to keep these cake pops fresh is by vacuum sealing them in a freezer bag.
You can also individually wrap the cake pops in plastic wrap and then wrap them in aluminum foil. This works just as well as vacuum sealing them.
FAQ
Do I need to refrigerate the cake pops before I dip them?
Not for this recipe because the cake is already cool before making the cake balls. You do need to let the cake pops cool before serving them so the candy coating hardens.
What cake pop flavors should I try out?
My personal favorite is a homemade chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. You can also try red velvet cake pops with homemade cream cheese frosting.
Ways to enjoy
These cake pops would go well with our red velvet cake mix cookies because they are so similar. When you put both of them on a dessert table, they look beautiful together. Presentation is important too.
Fun drinks also go well with these round cake pops. Fruity mocktails, especially this strawberry mojito mocktail, are colorful and pretty and will look great on the dessert table. We also love this lemon mocktail.
For something a bit more savory, check out our Valentines charcuterie board. You can also make a fun Valentines grazing table. We love charcuterie boards because they have a little bit of everything.
And if you know someone who needs Valentines gifts for babies, we've got them covered as well.
