Why I love chocolate Velveeta fudge

    • Intriguing yet delicious flavor: The combination of Velveeta cheese and sweet chocolate creates a good fudge with a rich flavor and satisfying texture.
    • The smooth texture: The secret to its velvety texture lies in the careful blending of ingredients, giving you a fudge that's smooth and creamy.
    • It's versatile: Like this Halloween chex mix, you can customize the ingredients and toppings to fit your preferences.
    • The simplicity: This recipe is made with 5 basic ingredients and simple steps, for an easy yet yummy dessert recipe.

    Ingredients needed

    • Velveeta cheese: The secret ingredient for the ultra smooth and creamy texture.
    • Chocolate chips: Choose semi-sweet or milk chocolate for a classic flavor, or go dark chocolate for a richer fudge.
    • Butter: This will help the fudge set properly.
    • Powdered sugar: For extra sweetness.
    • Vanilla extract: An essential in all baking recipes.

How to make creamy Velveeta fudge

Microwave: Microwave the cheese, chocolate, and butter in a microwave safe bowl until melted. Whisk to combine.

Mix: Add the cheese mixture to a large bowl of a stand mixer with one cup of powdered sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla. Mix until combined and then gradually add the remaining confectioners' sugar.

Let set: Line a baking dish with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray then evenly press the fudge mixture in. Let the homemade fudge chill in the refrigerator for 2.5 hours or until firm.

Cut and serve: One set, remove the fudge from the pan and cut into 36 squares using a sharp knife. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Pro tip: When microwaving, keep an eye on the cheese and chocolate mixture to prevent it from burning. You may have to microwave in intervals and stir as needed.

Make ahead, storage, and freezing instructions

How to make ahead: Like most fudge recipes, this one can be prepared 2-3 days ahead of time or further in advance if you choose to freeze. Making it the perfect stress free dessert recipe for the holidays or those with busy schedules.

How to store: Store leftover fudge in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Can you freeze fudge? Yes, you can freeze this easy fudge recipe. Allow the fudge to properly set before freezing and freeze in a plastic baggie or freezer container for up to 3 months. Let the fudge thaw in the fridge overnight before you're ready to serve.

    Recipe variations

    • Chopped nuts - Mix in 1 cup of chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, or macadamia nuts work great) to this chocolate fudge after incorporating the powdered sugar.
    • Caramel sauce - Drizzle caramel sauce over the fudge before refrigerating for an extra touch of sweetness.
    • Get fruity - Adding dried fruit like cranberries, apricots, or cherries is a great way to contrast the creamy texture.
