I love to delight in the simple things, especially when it comes to food. We all have to eat, so why not make it special?

Holidays are the best time to enjoy the luxury of food. There is also the time you spend baking treats. It makes for quality time with family and friends and creates beautiful memories.

Drinking alcohol at events and holidays (like New Year's Eve) is fairly common and can be a large part of the party, depending on the holiday. But what about those who do not drink alcohol?

Yes, there is soda, water, sparkling water, etc., but shouldn't everyone be able to enjoy a fancy drink now and then? Or maybe during your new years day activities. That is where non-alcoholic drinks and our new year's eve charcuterie board come into play.

And here are some New Years Eve party theme ideas for adults that go great with our non alcoholic champagne. You can even enjoy them with our New Year's Eve ball drop for kids and countdown ideas.

What is a sparkling non-alcoholic drink?

A non-alcoholic drink, or a mocktail, is a beverage that does not contain any alcohol. What makes it sparkling are the bubbles that come from carbonation. Champagne, seltzers, and other drinks are typically carbonated.

Just because a drink is non-alcoholic does not mean it is sparkling. Beverages like piña coladas, margaritas, and Bloody Marys are not sparkling. The carbonation in carbonated water, like soda water and tonic water, causes the bubbles.

There are plenty of nonalcoholic drinks out there that you probably don't know exist. You can find alcohol-free champagne, non-alcoholic wine, non-alcoholic beer, alcohol-free prosecco, and more for an alcohol-free alternative.

Why should I drink non-alcoholic sparkling drinks?

There are plenty of reasons to drink non-alcoholic sparkling drinks. It all comes down to lifestyle and personal preference. Alcohol-free drinks provide a beverage that does not exclude anyone.

One of the first reasons people choose not to drink is their health. If someone wants to lose weight, one of the first things to cut out is alcohol. Alcoholic beverages contain a lot of unnecessary sugar.

By cutting out alcoholic drinks, one can easily lose some weight. Another health reason is to lower blood pressure. Drinking can cause high blood pressure, stroke, liver disease, and even heart disease.

Alcohol quickly causes dehydration, which can cause plenty of health issues. Dehydration causes issues with your kidneys, which could lead to kidney stones. It can also effect your other organs the longer you are dehydrated.

One of the most common issues with drinking alcohol is a hangover. A hangover is a bunch of side effects of consuming alcohol. Some of the most common symptoms are headaches, nausea, and dizziness.

You can enjoy all the delicious beverages without worrying about getting sick the next morning when you drink non-alcoholic drinks. Some hangovers are so bad that they can lead to alcohol poisoning.

Usually, when a group goes out drinking, one person will have to be the "designated driver." This person does not drink so that they can drive the group home after the evening.

Being a designated driver can be tough because everyone drinks fun drinks, and they have to sip soda or water. Mocktails provide a beverage that a designated driver can enjoy without worrying about their safety or being left out.

Of course, pregnant women cannot drink alcohol. Sparkling non-alcoholic drinks provide yummy drink options without worrying about endangering their baby. Mocktails are especially delicious at baby showers.

What ingredients are in non-alcoholic beverages?

Many think that drinks without alcohol are just juice, but that is not the case. Making non-alcoholic beverages can be just as much of a science as alcoholic drinks.

I find that natural ingredients make a mocktail extra tasty. The fresh flavors really give it a crisp taste. There are so many different flavors to choose from that the options are endless.

Lime juice, fruit juice, lemon juice, orange juice, and pomegranate juice are all incredibly popular juices used in mocktails. They add to the drink's flavor profile but are not the only ingredient in mocktails.

If the recipe does not call for a nonalcoholic spirit, sparkling beverages like club soda, ginger ale, seltzer water, and Sprite are common in non-alcoholic drinks. They give the drink its bubbly texture without the alcohol.

You can also use non-alcoholic champagne, alcohol-free sparkling wine, and other zero-proof drinks as bases for your mocktails. All of these ingredients can be found online, which makes shopping so much easier!

Some mocktails take a cocktail recipe and remove the alcohol, whereas other non-alcoholic drinks are completely separate recipes. The fun thing about making a beverage is that you get to experiment with flavors.

We love to use syrups in our drinks because of their sweet flavors. Plus, they add fun coloring to the drinks. I am all about the tastiness of a drink, but having an aesthetically pleasing beverage is fun too.

When should I serve non-alcoholic drinks?

There does not have to be a special occasion for you to make a non-alcoholic drink. Any time is the perfect time to enjoy a sparkling beverage. I particularly like to make a cold beverage after we put the kiddos down for the night.

It is fun to make a special drink for a special occasion, though. The drink helps create a specific memory for that specific event. I love to come up with new drink recipes to match the theme of parties.

Bubbly beverages are a great option for dinner parties, happy hours, and other fun parties. They look beautiful in pretty glasses and taste even better. Plus, it makes the event feel fancy.

Another great time to serve these beverages is brunch. Boozy brunches are popular, so why not have a mocktail brunch? Everyone will feel included, and you can enjoy a virgin mimosa.

One thing you could do is host a DIY mocktail party! You could set up stations in your kitchen for a fun night of drink-making. Teach your friends and family how to make these tasty recipes while also spending time together.

Then you will have tons of tasty drinks to enjoy by the end of the night. A mocktail party is a fun twist on a girl's night, and it involves tasty things. Let me know if you try it out.

    FAQ

Is there alcohol in sparkling water?

Not all sparkling water beverages are alcoholic, but hard seltzers are becoming popular. Sparkling waters like Bubly and LaCroix are not alcoholic, so they are a safe option if you are looking for something without alcohol.

Sparkling water, also known as carbonated water or seltzer water, is water with carbonation. There are carbon dioxide bubbles in it, making the water bubbly. Most sparkling water beverages have some added flavorings for taste.

What does it mean when a drink is "sparkling?"

Sparkling basically means carbonated. Think of soda and how it has carbonation. Sparkling beverages are just like soda with carbonation but have different flavors (like sparkling water).

The little bubbles are created by carbon dioxide gas. Through pressure, carbon dioxide is added to a beverage, which makes the drink sparkling. After the drink is opened, the carbon dioxide eventually leaves the beverage, which makes the drink taste flat.

What is the difference between a non-alcoholic drink and mocktail?

There is no difference. They are just different names for the same thing. You will also hear mocktails called "virgin" drinks, "alcohol-free," and "not-tails."

If you want to order a non-alcoholic drink at a bar, tell the bartenders you want a drink without alcohol. They know all of the different names for these beverages, but it never hurts to really make sure they know what you want.

    Ways to enjoy

Beverages, specifically non-alcoholic drinks, pair perfectly with charcuterie boards. Cheese boards are often served with wine and other alcoholic drinks, so you should serve mocktails with them!

Get creative with these adorable Easter charcuterie board ideas. We also have our spooky charbooterie board for Halloween. Pair these charcuterie boards with all of these sparkling drinks, and you are set for your next holiday party.

Sparkling drinks make a beverage feel unique and fancy. A sparkling non-alcoholic drink can elevate any event and make everyone feel included. Kids can drink them, and those who avoid alcohol can enjoy them also.

Everyone will absolutely love these drinks, and I just know they will ask for the recipes. We hope you love all of these tasty drinks! Have fun making these tasty drinks and enjoy!
