Ingredients Needed
- Strawberries – The deep red color of these pretty berries are the perfect shade to start off the rainbow in this fruit platter.
- Watermelon – I love adding this tasty melon as a slightly lighter red before blending into orange.
- Purple grapes – These grapes add that final hint of red for your rainbow, and they’re the perfect finger food.
- Cantaloupe – Now we’re getting into the orange of the rainbow with this sweet melon.
- Orange – And of course the placement of this one is all in the name for this tangy fruit.
- Pineapple – Yellow mustn’t be forgotten when creating a rainbow, and pineapple is the perfect addition.
- Green apple – Mmm, don’t you just love apples and how well they go with the other fruits on this platter?

How to make a Rainbow Fruit Platter
Wash and Chop
Rinse and dry all the fruit that needs to be washed.
Using a cutting board and sharp knife, cut the strawberries in half, lengthwise. Chop the green apples, watermelon, orange, and pineapple into cubes. Cut the cantaloupe into chunks. Slice the bananas into discs. Finally, pluck the grapes from their stems.

Assemble
I like to start with the halved strawberries and arrange them into an arch (rainbow) shape on a large platter. Then I lay the rest of the fruits out according to color. Don’t forget: ROY G BIV. A handy memory trick to remember the order of the rainbow colors.
Save the mallows and banana coins for the end. Pile those up using the marshmallows for clouds and the bananas as gold coins. Because there simply must be a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow right? Then serve with tongs!
Variations
- Fruit dip – Replace the marshmallows with two small bowls of your favorite fruit dip!
- Kiwis – Switch out one of the green fruits with sliced or cubed kiwis.
- Dragon fruit – Add a little extra violet color with some gorgeous pieces of purple dragon fruit.
Storage and Freezing
Storing – Store the leftover fruit in separate bags or containers for up to five days in the refrigerator.
Freezing – Separate the fruits into separate freezer bags and freeze for up to two months. Because this will change the texture of the fruits, use them in smoothies!
