Ingredients

  • Sliced meats
  • Hard cheeses cut into stars
  • Soft cheeses
  • Fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries
  • Crackers or red, white and blue chips
  • Red jam or another seasonal jam
  • 4th of July cookies

Instructions

  • Get a board and place cups and little spreading knives where you would like them
  • Add some dips, sauce or berries in the little cups as well as things like pickles which are wet and can make a mess
  • Add cheeses around the board, I recommend at least three varieties. Make sure the hard cheeses are cut into star shapes.
  • Add the cured meats, crackers, fruits and veggies (any red, white, and blue produce will work)
  • Finish by garnishing with 4th of July cookies and filling in gaps on the board.

Notes

Make ahead, storage, and freezing instructions

To make ahead: Keep the board chilled until ready to serve to make sure that the cheeses and meats stay fresh throughout your celebration. You can make the board up to 2 hours ahead of time.
To store - It's best to put all items that need refrigeration, such as cheeses, meats, and dips, into airtight containers. They can then be refrigerated for a couple of days.
Crackers, fruits, cookies, and non-refrigerated items can be placed in containers and bags and stored at room temperature in the pantry.
To freeze - I don't recommend freezing after assembling the festive board.

Recipe variations

  • Different fruits: Feel free to add red apples, cherries, bananas, plums, or any other red, white, and blue fruit. It's truly up to personal preference.
  • Decorations: I like to add little American flags, decorative toothpicks, or festive napkins to the board to give it an extra patriotic kick.
  • Gluten-free: If you're catering to a gluten allergy, feel free to use all gluten free crackers for a celiac friendly charcuterie board.
  • Vegetarian: Swap the meats for vegetarian options like roasted chickpeas, more cheeses, extra veggies, etc.
