Christmas Reindeer Chex Mix Recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces rice or corn chex cereal
  • 12 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or peppermint extract for an extra festive flavor
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 5-10 ounces red and green M&M's
  • 5-7 ounces mini Reese's cups

Instructions

  • Combine chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in a large microwave safe bowl and microwave for 60 seconds
  • Give the mixture a good stir and keep stirring until smooth (if needed, microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until the mixture is completely melted) then stir in vanilla or peppermint extract
  • Pour the chocolate mixture over the chex cereal in a large bowl and stir together gently with a large spoon or spatula until JUST COATED

  • Add the cereal mixture to a large gallon ziplock bag and sprinkle the powdered sugar over and seal the bag

  • Shake the bag until coated, but don't overmix
  • Place in a clean bowl and toss in the M&M's and Reese's

Notes

Can you make this recipe without peanut butter?

Absolutely! You can use almond butter, cashew butter, hazelnut butter, or whichever type you prefer. You can also omit the peanut butter in general if you desire.
 

How to store the leftovers

Place the leftovers in an airtight container and it can sit at room temperature for 1-2 weeks. I usually just set the container on our counter for easy access.
 
Top tip: Use peppermint extract for an extra festive flavor.
